Rancho’s range of 2 inch lift kits are fully engineered right here in Australia to provide improved ground clearance for better towing and load carrying performance without a harsh ride. As a manufacturer of shock absorbers and coil springs, we know how to get the most out of your 4×4’s suspension via rigorous testing on and off road.
Our spring rates are slightly increased over OE to offset the increase in body roll otherwise associated with a lift and to better control the ‘see saw’ effect and to limit bottoming out when towing or carrying a heavy load. All of our shock absorber listed for raised applications are tuned to suit our springs.
Whilst a firmer spring sounds like it might provide a stiff ride, this not the case when combined with a lift as the suspension bottoms out less frequently and so the overall ride experience remains comfortable.
Owner certification under VSB-14
Our 2” lift kits all meet the requirements for ‘owner certification’ under VSB-14, meaning you do not need a certified engineer to approve your vehicle – you just need to advise your insurer of the modification and in some states to also advise the transport authority.
Compliance to VSB-14 ‘owner certification’ requirements requires 2 main criteria to be met:
- The suspension lift does not exceed 50mm (2 inches)
- At least 2/3 of the original rebound travel is maintained. Where necessary our shock absorbers are longer than OE to meet this requirement without requiring the replacement of brake lines or diff breather hoses.

Front 0-85kg
Vehicles with no bull bar, alloy bull bar or a steel bar with no winch or added underbody protection
Front 90-120kg
Vehicles with steel bull bars plus winch and/or added underbody protection
Rear 0kg-GVM
Variable Load Vehicles with light accessory load
Rear 250kg-GVM
Constant Load Vehicles with moderate accessory load – e.g. towbar, canopy and drawer system

All Rancho Suspension Lift Kits offer improved towing performance vs OE suspension due to increased damping and the raising of the rear suspension to move the suspension away from its bump stops. 250kg rear suspension should only be selected where there are 250kg of permanent accessories fitted. Otherwise in a ‘daily drive’ scenario owners may experience harsh ride and more importantly the lift will not be VSB-14 compliant by exceeding 2” and or failing to maintain 2/3 of the original rebound travel.
